Sierra Anglers Guide Service presents:
Fishing Reports for California's Northern Sierra waterways around Lake Tahoe
July 26th, 2010 Fishing Report
- DONNER LAKE
- Lots of boats. The Kokanee are small but lots of them. Kokes are ranging
10 to 12 inches at around 50 feet. Color is pink. The Macks are deep, try
fishing for the Mackinaw at the bottom on the south side at 150 feet with
silver 3 inch neddlefish.
- Please let the Big Macks GO (fish over 10 pounds). If we don't your KIDS wont have the chance that you have to catch one of these big fish that have been in the lake for 40 years.
- STAMPEDE
- The Kokanee bite is still going strong with fish being caught up to 18
inches. The bite is all over the lake so pick a spot and start fishing. The
fish are running between 40 feet and 80 feet deep right now. No one lure is
working better then other ones, so try them all. The Mack bite is getting
better now that the Kokanee are going deeper. Try trolling a 5 inch black
and white skinny from A.C. Plugs down at 90 feet. The Rainbow Trout skinny
is working also. Some nice Browns have also been caught. I had to make sure
of the weight before I tell you. One Brown weighed in at 22 pounds, one was
12 pounds and one was 11.5 pounds. All were caught trolling the shorelines.
- PLEASE TRY TO BOOK YOUR TRIP 2 WEEKS AHEAD OF TIME. BECAUSE OF THE SIZE
OF THE KOKES I AM GETTING CALLS EVERY DAY FOR TRIPS.
- DAVIS LAKE
- The bite is good on Davis Lake. Most are getting limits of Rainbows in the
14 to 17 size. Troll all over the lake. The inland is a good spot and all
the points on the west side of the lake.
- FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO LEARN HOW TO FLY FISH I AM BOOKING FLY FISHING TRIPS
ON DAVIS.
BOOK YOUR TRIP NOW.
- SHASTA LAKE
- The trout are deep in the lake look for them at 50 to 75 feet most of the
time. Water temperature is high.
- LAKE TAHOE
- Most anglers are fishing on the north shore for Mackinaws. I would try out
in the Tahoe city area. The Rainbow Trout are back out in deep water.
Trolling out in 30 to 80 feet of water where there are a lot of rocks should
get your bite. The Macks are down at 120 to 180 feet. The Kokanee Salmon on
the south shore are biting, Try out in front of Camp Richardson. Sometimes
you need to go out in deep water to find them. They like red.
- REMEMBER 500 FEET FROM ANY INLET OR YOU WILL GET A TICKET.
- EAGLE LAKE
- Eagle lake is good, just had some clients that fished with S&S guide
service said that they had there limits by 9:30 AM with one fish weighing in
over 4 pounds. They were fishing over in the Pelican Point area with Artic
Fox flies in Orange.
- Beginning in September, the big Rainbow Trout start moving to the north end of Eagle Lake and that is when we start fishing for these monsters.
One and two day guided fishing trips on Eagle Lake
available.
